Getting serious about skin as I discuss my skin care routine. I mean really, who doesn't want glowing, radiant skin?

I may have an obsession with skin care and I love taking steps to achieve that healthy glowing look.

Before I had kiddies, I worked as an RN with an amazing dermatologist. During that time, I learned so much valuable information and really started to take an interest in treating and protecting my skin.

Before I dive into the details, let’s make sure we got some skin basics down:

HYDRATE LIKE A BEAUTY BOSS

Always, always keep yourself hydrated. If your skin is dehydrated, it will show on your face. Lack of hydration can cause your skin to look dull and flaky- no thanks.

SUN SAFE

Nothing speeds up the aging process like sun exposure. Be safe and grab your sunscreen, a hat, and glasses if you want to save your skin and keep a youthful look.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

I feel like this could be a post all to itself. Heck yes to eating up for beautiful skin. Soak up and eat up all the goodness that mother nature provides. You can’t expect to have glowing, dewy skin if your eating habits consist of taking in nasty chemicals and toxins.  Seriously indulge in healthy oils and antioxidant-packed fruits and veggies. A few favorites are nuts, salmon, berries, lemons, eggs, and leafy greens.

Okay, let’s chat the goods of my skincare routine.

CLEANSE

Gotta love that feeling of a clean, fresh face. Always start your skincare regime by using a gentle cleanser to clean away and dirt of impurities. Wash using warm water using small circular motions and pat dry (grab a clean face cloth for this). In the evening, cleanse as usual and incorporate some sort of exfoliation 3 times a week. I can not live without my Clarisonic brush. It’s gentle enough to use often and gets the job done to get residual makeup and dirt off.  Any type of exfoliation will work, but be sure not to be excessive with your scrubbing your face. Always be gentle and don’t tug or pull on your skin.

TONE

If you want to take your skin care to the next level, you’ll want to start using a toner on your skin. Toning helps to restore your skins PH after cleansing. Look for a toner that is alcohol-free and full of hydrating and antioxidant properties. I love a little spritz of tonner throughout the day to freshen up and give the skin a glowy look.

SERUM

If the dewy skin is what you are after, serums are a must. Serums are lightweight formulas that go deep into the skin to deliver beautiful ingredients for hydrating and antioxidants. Step up your serum game and massage them into your face with your fingers or using a tool such as a jade roller or Clarisonic massager. Always use upward strokes on your face and downward strokes in the neck and chest. Facial massage is something I love as it takes away the puffiness and gets the circulation going. Bye bye bloating. And a bonus is that makeup goes on perfectly after doing facial massage.

MOISTURIZE

Lock in all the goodness you’ve pampered and put on your face with a good moisturizer. Always essential here as I need I keep my face hydrated and moisturized or it feels dry and tight- not good.  My favorite is an oil-based moisturizer at night and a cream based during the daytime.

EYE CREAM

The skin under your eyes is thin and deserves special attention. Regular use of eye creams will keep the elastin to the area and prevent fine lines and collagen loss.  Gently pat a small amount of eye cream around your eye to help reduce and prevent those not so pretty fine lines and reduce puffiness.

SUNSCREEN

My final steps in my skin care, but one of the most important is slathering up on the sunscreen. All year round, wear it. Even when it’s cloudy and in the winter months, we still are getting exposure.  I will always be faithful to my sunscreen. If premature aging and brown spots don’t excite you, get on board with sunscreen.

So there you have it- my skin regime for a radiant, healthy glow. I always love hearing about others and their skin rituals. Please share and leave any comments below.

With love,

 XO
