Morning!
Thinking about how to organize my days to make them optimal and efficient. I need structure and some sort of organization to my day. Of course, I grabbed my pink journal and started scribbling some of these plans out.
UP EARLY + PLANNING THE DAY
Early starts. This for me is a no-brainer. A total game changer and I love getting up before the family to brew a cup of coffee and think about the day. It’s usually the only time I have to myself in the day, so mornings are queen.
I grab my pink spiral journal and write out the things I want to accomplish and get through in the day.
I love getting out my pink marker and checking these things off my list while I’m getting them done (feeling pretty productive over here).
Obsessed with early mornings and planning out my day. To keep the planning fun and light, fun I use some cute stickers and different color pens to add to my “to-do” list. Do whatever works for you.
SETTING UP YOUR EVENING
Planning my next day starts the night before. Take 5-10 minutes before bed to prepare for a fantastic morning.
This is super easy and has been a game changer for my mornings. What does this look like?
+ Fill up a water bottle with lemon water
+ Prep coffee machine
+ Fill up diffuser with oils
+ Layout workout clothes
+ Vitamins out on the counter
+ Make lunches for my little crew
ORGANIZE YOUR SPACE
First things first, my space needs to be clean and organized before I jump into my morning routine. Why do I need my space organized? It clears my mind and gives me space.
I can’t start the day if my kitchen is a disaster. Again, this goes back to the night prior and taking a moment to clean the kitchen and put away any toys or visual clutter (drives me insane).
Something so simple as cleaning out the sink is major for me. Can’t start the day off beautifully if I have a sink full of dishes. Am I right?!
Once this is taken care of, let’s start the day.
+ make beds
+ open blinds and windows
+ water bottles filled (kids included).
+ diffuser going
TIME BLOCKING
Going to try to keep this as simple as I can. But basically, time blocking is setting aside time to do a specific task. It’s been a tool I’ve used to schedule my to-do list and keep me focused.
I’m guilty of trying to do a million things at once. So, enter time blocking and it’s been a game changer. Doing one task for a specific amount of time works beautifully for me.
You pick your task, set your timer, and once the timer goes off, that’s it. Done.
Some quick examples of how I block my time:
- laundry 20 minutes
- reading with kids 15 minutes
- clean up kitchen 10 minutes
- workout 25 minutes
You get the gist. To start this little process, grab yourself a cute journal. Write out the things you wish to complete in your day. Go through that list a give yourself a specific amount of time to complete the task. Grab your little timer and get to work.
What are your tricks and tips for setting up for a great day? Always love to hear from others on their routines.
XOXO,
