My essential oils journey began a few years ago when I purchased my first diffuser. Once I started using them, they have become essential in my life. I can honestly say, my diffuser is one of my most loved (and used) items in the house. I just love waking up and getting my diffuser going for the day.

There's nothing like starting your day with an uplifting scent of peppermint or winding down the day with lavender. Not only do they smell incredible, but I've found scents lift my mood and energy.

Essential Oils have quickly become a tool I use in the home with the kids and my husband to improve our health. I feel empowered to have these tools available to me when the family may need them.

Lemon

This citrus scent helps to boost and invigorate.  Afternoons is when I need a hit of energy, so I will add a few drops into my diffuser and add a few drops into the kitchen sink while I’m preparing dinner. It’s so uplifting and fresh. Bye-bye 3 pm slump.

OTHER USES

  • Add to a spray bottle of water to use as a counter cleaner
  • place a few drops on a microfiber cloth to remove sticky residue
  • add to water for its cleansing and uplifting properties

Peppermint

My go-to for mornings. Love the smell and energizing feeling when peppermint is going. Before a workout, I’ll put a few drops into my palms, rub together and inhale. Also, so good for rubbing on to the temples for headaches and increased concentration.

Peppermint contains natural cooling properties. Make an amazing cooling spray by mixing a few drops of peppermint oil into a spray bottle with distilled water. Spray on the face (avoiding the eyes), neck, and chest to instantly refresh.

OTHER USES

  • add to shampoo and conditioner for stimulating head massage
  • add 1-2 drops into hot water for a beautiful tea
  • place 1-2 drop in the bottom of a garbage can to freshen up a smelly space

Eucalyptus

Favorite oil to grab if the kids are stuffy or congested. This oil helps to clear lungs and sinuses. Put a few drops on your wrist or spritz before getting into a shower, instantly creates a spa-like environment. Add a few drops to your bath and inhale all the goodness.

OTHER USES

  • add 1-2 drops with fractionated coconut oil and rub over the chest to help with congestion
  • sore muscles- dilute coconut oil and a few drops and rub over the sore area
  • cellulite- dilute and massage over the area

 Grapefruit

The oil with a sweet citrus scent fights fatigue and helps with stress (hooray!) Love having this in the car with me for an uplifting and soothing scent. Another cool thing about this oil is that it’s great for oily skin and acne. Add a few drops to your daily cleanser or moisturizer, and apply as usual. So fresh!

OTHER USES

  • helps with sugar cravings when diffused or taken internally with water
  • menstrual cramps- dilute with a carrier oil and massage over lower belly
  • diffuse to purify the air and kill germs

Lavender

Ahh, so relaxing. This scent is part of our evening ritual to calm and relax the household. Adding a few drops into the bathtub or have it diffusing in the bedroom helps to relax and help get a better night sleep.

Problems with dry scalp? Add a few drops to your shampoo to prevent those flakes.

OTHER USE

    • helps soothe minor burns
    • reduce anxiety by taking 1 drop in a glass of water
    • bug bites- apply onto the site. Works as a natural antihistamine

Alright, so know you know my love affair with oils is true. So much so that when we travel, I take our diffuser with us. I have also been known to put oils on a cotton ball and place them randomly around the hotel room. I love how clean the air feels when I smell them as I walk into a room.

What are your thoughts on essentials oils? Do you use them already? Loved to hear about your faves in the comments!

With love,
